Flexible Parts

SLS - TPU

SLS 3D printed TPU flexible part produced at Norra Additive Manufacturing, showing high elasticity and durability for functional components.

Elastic and durable for functional prototypes and production components

Datasheet

Flexible TPU parts combine high elasticity with excellent abrasion and chemical resistance. They are ideal for seals, grippers, flexible joints, and protective components requiring repeated deformation without loss of strength. TPU maintains its flexibility across temperature ranges, making it suitable for demanding mechanical environments.

• Durable under continuous bending or vibration

• Performs well in cold and warm environments

CONS

• Slightly lower precision on small details

• Surface can feel velvety before finishing

• Longer cleaning and post-processing time

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of seals, joints or vibration-damped components benefit most from flexible TPU?
Gaskets, bellows, hinges, shock mounts, and soft-touch elements—typical flexible 3D printed parts made from TPU—benefit the most.
Are there any specific design considerations or minimum thicknesses to ensure reliable flexibility and durability in TPU?
Keep walls at least 1.0–1.5 mm and avoid razor-sharp transitions to maintain consistent TPU flexibility and durability.
How does SLS TPU perform under repeated bending, compression or vibration compared to rubber or molded elastomers?
SLS TPU offers high fatigue resistance and rebounds well—very close to molded rubber—while still behaving like a flexible 3D printed part.
