Norra AM is expanding its post-processing 3D printing capabilities with the addition of vapor smoothing technology from Additive Manufacturing Technologies, AMT.
The investment supports Norra AM’s continued focus on delivering end-use additive manufacturing parts with improved surface quality, functional performance and finishing options. By adding vapor smoothing AMT technology, Norra AM can offer customers a new route to smoother, more refined components for demanding industrial applications.
Adding vapor smoothing to post-processing 3D printing

Vapor smoothing is a post-processing method used to improve the surface finish of polymer 3D printed parts, including nylon, TPU parts. The process helps create a smoother and more visually refined surface, which can be valuable when parts require painting, coating or a more finished appearance.
For customers, this adds another option when moving from prototypes to functional end-use components. Surface finishing nylon parts can help improve part aesthetics while also supporting applications where additional protection or tighter surface performance is required.
Working with AMT and green solvent AM technology
Norra AM has selected AMT as its manufacturing partner for this new capability. AMT offers state-of-the-art vapor smoothing technology based on a green solvent approach, providing an alternative to more harmful solvents traditionally associated with surface treatment processes.
The use of green solvent AM technology aligns with Norra AM’s commitment to responsible manufacturing and practical industrial performance. The process enables high-quality surface finishing while supporting a more environmentally conscious approach to post-processing.
Supporting end-use AM applications
The new vapor smoothing capability is especially relevant for parts that require a smooth finish before spray painting or additional protection in challenging environments. It can also support applications where improved surface characteristics are important, such as parts exposed to oil or where airtightness is a key requirement.
By adding this technology, Norra AM strengthens its ability to deliver more complete additive manufacturing solutions. The expansion gives customers access to both production of 3D printed parts and advanced post-processing under one capability-driven offering.
